Why is death or blood required as payment for sin? Genesis 3:21—God made coats of skin and clothed Adam and Eve; we see that God established a principle in order to pay for the sin Adam and Eve had committed—there was a need for the shedding of blood; so we believe that the animal that was used to make those coats of skin was a lamb, and that lamb is a foreshadowing of the Lamb of God, which was the Lord as the substitutionary death for the sin of all the world; there you have the principle set forth; and later on in the Bible, in the New Testament, the Apostle Paul actually comes to strengthen that principle in Romans 6, where we have the verse that says that the wages of sin is death, so death is necessary to pay for sin; and even further in Hebrews 9, Paul mentions that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin; you have the strengthening of that principle that in order for someone to be forgiven of their sins, there needs to be a shedding—there is a shedding of blood and death; but the good news is that the blood has been shed, the price has been paid, and all a sinner needs to do is just believe and receive that blood and be saved; it’s a wonderful question with an even better answer that encourages us to just take the blood and believe in that blood.
